TRANSLATING AND INTEGRATING SCHOLARSHIP INTO PRACTICE

It can never be stressed enough how important it is to continue educating yourself regardless of the field of practice.  Healthcare practices can change quickly.  Evidenced based practice can provide important information that can save or change lives forever.  As an advanced practice nurse, it is our duty to stay on top of science-based information that can improve the quality of life for our patients.  APRNs also need to advocate for our profession when it comes to safety.  Promote self-care and appropriate staffing ratios.  Sometimes the basics are forgotten as we continue to learn.

C-Diff PowerPoint

This PowerPoint was made with a classmate as an educational tool for all healthcare.  Hospital acquired infections cost lives and money each year.  Education is never wasted.  It is obvious that c-diff is discussed in healthcare, but few people know how important the prevention is as a whole.  Education without explanation is often ignored or found to be boring.  There are times, some people feel they have already heard it all and do not need to hear it again.

Anxiolytic Tool Box

Developing a mental toolbox of medications that will be used in a practice is a great foundation.  A preceptor helped develop my anxiolytic toolbox with homework that turned into a great learning tool.

Public Health Nurse Informatics

This paper helped me to discover how the CDC interprets information about the spread of flu and COVID-19.  An APRN should feel confident in locating information concerning vaccines for patient education.

Adolescent Soap Note

This was the first soap note completed for my time at the boys' group home.  I learned the most holistic approaches to addiction and behavioral issues with boys' aged 10-18.  Medication is a great tool to have and understand.  It is more important to teach people coping skills that they can always take with them in life.
